God helps those who help themselves...

Where does this come from?
Is it really biblical?
What does it mean?
Many people believe this saying is biblical and true.
To them I ask, have you read the Bible?
The Bible says:
John 15:5-apart from ME you can do nothing.
Jer 17:5-This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD."
Prov 28:26-He who trusts in himself is a fool...
Proverbs 3:5-6-Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Isaiah 25:4-For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat..
The saying is not biblical, and Christians still believe it, saying one needs to be self reliant and take action...While one does need to take a step of FAITH and put action behind their faith, they are NOT to be self reliant. They are NOT to trust in themselves.
What do I mean by this? Let's say for example..You are believing God for a job. You have FAITH that God will supply the job, but your ACTION that you need to take to look for jobs and pray. That is putting action behind your faith. You don't just sit back and do nothing.
However, taking action does NOT mean being self reliant. You SEEK the Lord and OBEY what HE tells you...
